Growing Up I have always heard my parents put an emphasis on
the importance of education. My parents sacrifice everything that they had to
send my siblings and I to private school; the public school system in our
neighborhood was not that great. While I appreciate everything that my parents
have done for me, based on where I am now in life, sometimes I can’t help but
feel that my parents sacrificed their money for nothing. I mean here I am at
the age of 24, going on 25, and a college graduate working in a job that has
absolutely nothing to do with my major: Business Management Administration with
a concentration in Marketing.
I’d like to think that I picked a practical major. I mean
almost every company needs marketing and business management; however; I can’t
seem to find any jobs in those areas. The only jobs that I seem to find are the
jobs that pose as marketing firms, but in reality they companies that prey on
recent grads that deceive you in to selling products like Verizon Fios, Nextel
and other random products door to door. I have experienced this several times
and it is so disheartening.
I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Jrene’e and I have
decided to write a blog chronicling my experiences, thus far, after college. This
coming December it will be two years since I have graduated college and in that
short period of time I have learned and experienced a lot of things that
college does not prepare you for. Life After College can be Frustrating and I
hope that this blog will help you get through it.
